Dortmund is a very popular city in Germany. It is loaded with lots of attractions and adventures for the entire family. I visited Dortmund with my family and everyone enjoyed the three day trip to this wonderful and large city in Westphalia. We explored the city with our foot as the locals told us that it has got the best pedestrian-friendly walkways in the whole of Germany.
St. Reinold’s Church
This is the most attractive building of the Dortmund city. The tower of the church is over 100 meters and it is so tall that it is visible from miles away. You can reach the top of the tower to check out the six bells of the church and also get a panoramic view of the city.
This is one of the largest green spaces in Dortmund city. It is spread over175 acres of land with loads and loads of greenery. If you love to spend some leisure and quality time with your family, then visit this park. The Rosarium in the park hosts over 2600 rose varieties. Another major attraction of the park is the Television Tower that is 212 meters. It also boasts of a botanical garden, Westfalenstadion, the home of Borussia Dortmund, Trade fair Center, and the Ice stadium.
Transport Museum and Mooskamp Station
If you are a fan of vintage vehicles, then the local transport museum of Dortmund must be included in your tour itinerary. It gets you up, close and personal with a wide collection of the old trams. You will find trams that were part of the early 1900s. These trams were used to carry workers to the steel and mining plants located in the deep Ruhr Valley. There is also a Motorcar Museum that will provide you with glimpses of the vintage cars from leading manufacturers like Ferraris and Jaguars.
